about
I'm Mai Khanh.

I spent the early part of my career making "pretty" things: concept art, digital work. Pushing pixels to make things that were technically competent and personally hollow. I wasn't solving real problems. I wasn't making anyone's life easier. I was a skilled hand attached to someone else's vision, and it drained me in a way I didn't have words for yet.
So I stepped out. What I do now is the natural intersection of what I'm good at, what actually helps people, and what I find meaningful enough to keep doing. Branding, strategy, web presence are not ends in themselves, but the clearest expression I've found so far of that intersection.
90% of my clients become friends, and that's the metric I'm most proud of.
It's what inevitably happens when you work closely with people you genuinely respect, on problems that actually matter to them.
The view
How I see things
The most sustainable things: businesses, identities, design systems - all grow from an honest core outward.
When a business genuinely reflects the person running it: their actual values, their real history, the texture of how they see the world, it stops needing to perform. It just expresses. And what is genuinely expressed tends to last longer than what is strategically projected.
This is why I'm less interested in what's trending and more interested in what's true.
The practice
How I operate

Everything starts from deep understanding of the true problems underneath.
That takes stillness: enough time spent with someone to get past the surface version of things. And it takes honesty: the willingness to push back when something doesn't add up, to ask the question that makes things uncomfortable before they get clearer.
Personal taste is not the point, what serves the client is. I'm here to find the most honest solution and execute it with everything I have. Strategy is the anchor, and everything else, including the craft, follows it.

Oh Mai! is a solo studio. Depending on the project, I work with a small network of trusted collaborators: developers, photographers, and specialists who share the same values around craft and honesty.
You always know who's working on your project.
